It wont be the last time the players get to pose for a team photograph, as one player was still missing: Tim Wiese. Hoffenheim's new No.1 is set to join the squad for their second training camp in Feldkirchen. The German international is currently still on holiday following the lengthy EURO-campaign in Poland and the Ukraine. Edson Braafheid was also not present, as he is recovering from injury in Amsterdam at the moment. TSG's latest new signing Filip Malbasic was on site however and clearly enthusiastic about what lays ahead: “The first impression is outstanding. Hopefully I can accustom myself here quickly,” said the 19-year-old, who signed a four-year deal on Thursday with the Kraichgau club.
Fabian Johnson and Isaac Vorsah are also back in Zuzenhausen, as the United States and Ghana internationals were given an extended holiday, but returned for the second phase of the pre-season preparation. Back in June, Johnson and Vorsah were both in action for their countries qualifiers to the World Cup 2014 in Brazil. Marvin Compper on the other hand hasn't missed a single minute of the pre-season build-up and is satisfied with the way things have gone so far: “The first weeks were very intense and exhausting. We already are in good physical shape, but it's clear that we can still improve.”
The next few days will add a bit of diversity to the players daily routine of a pre-season preparation, as the next test matches are on the schedule. FC Astoria Walldorf host TSG on Friday and on Saturday, Markus Babbel's men square off with SV Stadelhofen in Baden-Baden. On July 23rd the team will make its way to Austria, after the test matches against FV Wiesental (July 18th) and SV Waldhof Mannheim (July 21st).
