Vukcevic suffers setback

1899 Hoffenheim midfielder Boris Vukcevic, currently struggling with injury, is expected to be out for another 6-8 weeks. The U-21 international suffered a setback on his road to recovery from the fractured fibula he sustained against Hamburger SV on Matchday 28.

Up until that point the 21-year old winger had appeared in all but one of 1899 Hoffenheim's Bundesliga encounters during the 2010/11 season. The club doctors admitted the injury is not healing as hoped, which means that Vukcevic may have to go under the knife to remedy the problem. The operation, which has been made necessary due to the amount of pain the youngster is currently experiencing on a daily basis, is aimed at providing more stability to the lower leg by inserting a metal plate.

“Naturally, this is far from ideal for us, but for Boris it's really disappointing. He can't let his head drop though. We'll be patient and allow him as much time as he needs to fully recover from this injury setback”, explained manager Ernst Tanner.
