Matthias Jaissle signs contract extension until 2015

In light of recent events regarding player contracts, 1899 Hoffenheim have received a huge boost after Matthias Jaissle has committed himself to the club by extending his contract until 2015.

Good news from La Manga, Matthias Jaissle has decided his future will continue to be in the 1899 Hoffenheim kit. The 22-year old defender put pen to paper on Sunday to a proposal extending his contract, which was due to run out in the summer, for a further 4 years. "By extending his contract we are sending a clear message that we'll continue to have faith in our younger players. We're delighted that we can keep building around players like Matthias as we set about reaching our future targets together", stated Ernst Tanner.

Matthias aisle had this to say about committing his future to the club: "Despite being out for so long because of injuries the club and the fans have kept supporting me. There was the possibility that I might have sought new challenges, but Hoffenheim are more than a club to me, as I feel very much at home here. That's why I'm the lucky one as I get to keep playing for 1899 in the future."

Obviously this is a large signal of intent from 1899 and new manager Marco Pezzaiuoli was also pleased to hear the news. "Matthias is close to re-finding his best form after what has been a difficult time for him with injuries. He's an important person at this club on a sporting, as well as human, level. He identifies with this club 100% and for me that is a key aspect of whether a player does well."

Jaissle moved to Kraichgau in 2007 from local rivals VfB Stuttgart and has made 24 Bundesliga appearances as well as taking part in 5 cup matches for 1899. On top of that he has also made two appearances at Under-21 level for Germany. Unfortunately in March 2009, Jaissle tore his ACL and had several setbacks on his road to recovery before finally making his return in the DFB Pokal match against Borussia Mönchengladbach. Luckily the future looks a little brighter for the youngster now.
