Quarshie joins Fortuna Düsseldorf on loan

Bundesliga club TSG Hoffenheim have prematurely extended the contract of defensive talent Joshua Quashie until 30 June 2027. It was also agreed to loan the 19-year-old Germany youth international to second-tier club Fortuna Düsseldorf for the next one and a half years.

"Joshua is a very talented central defender who still has a lot of potential and can bring us all a lot of joy at TSG in the future. That's why we've decided to extend his contract long-term until 2027. In order to take the next step, he needs regular game time at the highest-possible level for his development, which we can't guarantee him at the moment," said Pirmin Schwegler, Head of Professional Football at TSG, who continued: "For this reason, we've decided to loan him to Fortuna Düsseldorf until 2025. There he will have the chance to get important minutes for a good team in the 2. Bundesliga. I'm convinced this decision will pay off for Joshua, Fortuna and for us."

Joshua Quashie moved to the Kraichgau from Rot-Weiß Essen and has been with TSG since the summer of 2022. The current Germany U20 international was substituted on in the closing stages of TSG's home game against VfL Wolfsburg (2-1 defeat) on Matchday 15 of the 2022/23 season and got his first taste of Bundesliga action. Since last summer, the 19-year-old centre-back has been a fixed part of the first-team squad. He has mostly played for TSG's Regionalliga team this season (18 matches, one goal).
