Baumgartner: "It feels incredibly good"

Here's what the players and coaches had to say after TSG Hoffenheim's 3-1 win over Hertha BSC.

Christoph Baumgartner: "It's been far too long since we experienced this feeling. We sensed from the first second onwards how important this game was for us. We were all sure that we'd win this game. We've gotten our reward, which feels incredibly good. I see the team every day in training, there was really a special feeling this week. It was a really important step, but we're still towards the bottom of the pile and we have to keep fighting. If you saw the game today, it speaks volumes about the coach's work. It's three points, but it means much more for us today. When you don't win for weeks and don't get any reward, even though you produce decent performances, you need a successful result like this. We're taking a lot of steps that you don't necessarily see when you lose. We have to continue like this in Bremen after the international fixtures."

Andrej Kramarić: "I'm ecstatic we finally won. For the team and for the fans we showed we can do it. Nonetheless, there's a long way to go this season; we have to produce this level of performance in every game. We knew we had to win today. We were present from the start and played with a lot of energy. I didn't think much about the penalties; I was completely focused and sure that I'd score. We deserved the win; we worked very hard for it."

Pellegrino Matarazzo: "We made a cautious start to the game but we grew more courageous once we had scored the opening goal, so the result was in line with the balance of play. It's always good to win. The victory was deserved today. We produced a performance that enabled us to finally get three points. I am of course happy for the boys that they finally got their reward. I feel that we have a close bond within the team, which makes me very happy. We have of course been thinking a lot in the past few days, but we've been looking forwards. The boys left their heart out on the pitch today. We wanted to move the game into the opposition's half and not lose our compactness in the process. That didn't always work, but it often looked good."

Sandro Schwarz (Hertha BSC coach): "It was a completely deserved victory for Hoffenheim. We didn't produce a good performance and gave them two gifts. Both penalties were justified. We didn't show any reaction after conceding the goals. Instead, we only had a good five minutes after half-time and then let in the third goal far too easily. With that in mind, we completely deserved to lose. The performance is disappointing."
