Christoph Baumgartner: "Conceding goals too easily"

Here's what the players and coaches had to say after TSG Hoffenheim's 4-1 defeat to Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Ozan Kabak: "That was hard; we didn't manage to win a game again. We tried to turn the game around in the second half. After our goal for 2-1, we unfortunately conceded another goal straightaway. We're sorry. We'll do everything to win our upcoming matches."

Christoph Baumgartner: "Everything is going against us at the moment. Gladbach had two chances in the first half and converted them, we also had two and came away empty-handed. We got into the game better in the second half and pulled a goal back. At such times, it's always important to keep a cool head in spite of the excitement, but we became slightly wilder and Gladbach were suddenly able to pass the ball to each other in our box and slot in from five metres out. We're conceding goals too easily. We have to work hard and try to keep up our spirits in spite of everything. There's no point burying our heads in the sand now. It's so difficult at present; it's not so much fun at the moment but we'll all get out of it together."

André Breitenreiter (TSG Hoffenheim head coach): "The 1-0 for Gladbach came out of nothing, after a shot by us and a long ball forward. We then had a 100% chance to score directly afterwards that did not go in. That sums up our situation. We created several major opportunities in the second half that we did not take. We of course gave ourselves hope again by pulling the goal back, but conceding a goal so quickly is then fatal. That killed the game. It's very disappointing for us."

Daniel Farke (Borussia Mönchengladbach head coach): "It was a good day for us. When you start with two narrow defeats after the long winter break, you're not satisfied of course. The lads delivered and produced a top away performance. The 4-1 win is of course outstanding. We put into practice exactly what we'd been unable to in Augsburg. We were very stable off the ball and very creative with the ball. We deservedly led at the break. Hoffenheim had more possession in the second half, but we were solid. But if a team like TSG keeps playing and pressing and then gets shots away too, a game like this can turn on its head. I'm very happy with my team's reaction. The result is clear, but it was still a close game. However, we deserved the win today, especially after such a performance in our third game in six days."
