Prömel: "We didn't get our reward"

Here's what the players and coaches said after TSG Hoffenheim lost 2-0 to FC Bayern Munich.

Grischa Prömel: "We'd set our sights high and knew it'd be difficult. The marking wasn't right for the goal for 1-0. It's very frustrating that something like that happened from a dead ball. Overall, we were slightly too untidy with our passing and that led to lots of possession turnovers. In the first half in particular, we competed well but were slightly lacking that final punch – and effectiveness too. We didn't get our reward. But we will not talk ourselves down any more than necessary. We've made a good start to the season, have played well for long spells in the process, are gelling together and are confident we'll win games again. We also saw against Bayern that we always create chances. We now need to tick the game off, and be more effective and purposeful – and do things better next week in Cologne."

Oliver Baumann: "We've come away with nothing in the end; we were lacking that little bit of luck, but perhaps a bit more was missing too. Nonetheless, my conclusion is actually positive. We played a decent game, always tried and were courageous. In the second half, though, we didn't really have that penetration going forward, even though we played a lot of crosses. But Bayern did a great job of clearing them away. The commitment and attitude need to be just as good in Cologne; we also need to go even tougher into the tackles there and give our best. But our general development process is good, things are going in the right direction."

André Breitenreiter (TSG Hoffenheim coach): "It was a deserved win for Bayern. We did start the game well, but we failed to take our good opportunities in the first half. The goal that made it 1-0 following a set-piece was extremely unfortunate, we did not get the marking right. Afterwards, Bayern were very dominant, and we were too far away from the opposition. In the second half, we were considerably more stable at the back and tried to press earlier. But we did not manage to score a goal. However, I cannot make any reproach of the team. We didn't give up.

Julian Nagelsmann (FC Bayern Munich coach): "I'm very satisfied with our performance. Hoffenheim took a courageous approach, so it wasn't an easy game. We're on a good path, we proved that here. We were extraordinarily good in the challenges and went about that really well. In the second half, it was clear that Hoffenheim needed to take more risks. It was a very dominant and mature performance."
