DFB-Pokal: TSG away to Leipzig in round of 16

The draw for the last 16 of the DFB-Pokal took place on Sunday evening. TSG Hoffenheim will travel away to title-holders RB Leipzig. The round of 16 ties will be played at the end of January and the beginning of February next year.

The draw for the DFB-Pokal round of 16 ties, which took place on Sunday evening, has pitted TSG against Bundesliga opposition. Coach André Breitenreiter's team will be away to title-holders RB Leipzig, who beat second-tier team Hamburger SV 4-0 in the second round.

There are a total of 11 top-flight teams remaining in the last 16 of the competition, with the other five clubs playing in the 2. Bundesliga. Maria Asnaimer was the special studio guest for the draw, which was broadcast live on the ARD-Sportschau. The striker for TuS Germania Lohauserholz-Daberg, who were promoted to the Bezirksliga (Unna/Hamm district) in the summer, scored 101 goals across the league and cup last term – making her the top-scoring striker across all of Germany. DFB managing director Oliver Bierhoff was also in attendance to oversee the draw.

The last 16 ties will be played in two blocks. The first matches will take place on 31 January and 1 February, with the remaining ties to follow a week later (7/8 February). The precise fixture times will be scheduled in the coming days, and TSG will publish ticket information at the beginning of November. Hoffenheim qualified for the last 16 of the competition by beating Schalke 04 5-1.
