1-1 draw in Cologne earns TSG point

TSG Hoffenheim drew 1-1 with 1. FC Cologne on Sunday evening. Cologne took the lead through Florian Kainz in the 13th minute, with Jacob Bruun Larsen converting Christoph Baumgartner's assist to level with 10 minutes of the first half remaining. TSG made every effort in the second period but did not find enough solutions against a compact Cologne side. Ozan Kabak was sent off for a second bookable offence in the 87th minute. Andrej Kramarić had a big chance to clinch the win with the last kick of the game but dragged his effort just wide of goal.

The scenario

TSG Hoffenheim went into the matchday in seventh place in the table, with 1. FC Cologne a point behind in 10th position.

The line-up

With his suspension now served, Kevin Vogt was recalled to the starting XI by head coach André Breitenreiter. Kevin Akpoguma initially dropped to the bench. Sebastian Rudy began in place of Georginio (bench), while Jacob Bruun Larsen came in for the injured Munas Dabbur.

Number of the game: 8

TSG failed to extend their eight-match winning run against 1. FC Cologne.

Moment of the match

Christoph Baumgartner turned on the afterburners, carried the ball past Cologne defender Nikola Soldo and then cut it back towards Bruun Larsen, who scored the important equaliser.

Substitution of the game

Having already made a cameo appearance away to Schalke, Eduardo Quaresma came on with half an hour remaining against Cologne to replace the injured Vogt and came through his baptism of fire with flying colours. A performance that bodes well for the young Portuguese.

TSG Hoffenheim will take on Champions League participant RB Leipzig at the PreZero Arena on Matchday 13. Kick-off on Saturday will be at 15:30 CET.
