Breitenreiter: "Enough quality to be successful"

TSG Hoffenheim have a strong record of nine points from the first four games – a good start to the season that André Breitenreiter's charges will be looking to build on away to BVB in Dortmund on Friday (20:30 CET / Live Ticker at tsg-hoffenheim.de). Prior to the trip to the Ruhr, the head coach spoke about the opposition, the floodlight fixture and the season to date.

André Breitenreiter on…

…the game in Dortmund: "It is of course a special occasion to play under the floodlights in Dortmund. The favourites tag lies with BVB, but we're going there to produce a good performance and come away with something tangible. We've prepared very well for the game and are looking forward to it."

…pre-match nerves: "I'm relaxed the entire time. We prepare well for the opposition. We have won a lot of matches recently, and even though it can't always work out, we do everything in our power to be successful in our games. With this knowledge, I go into the games relaxed. During the matches, I'm focused on making the right decisions but that doesn't make me nervous. It'll be a great game with lots of spectators, I'm looking forward to it."

…BVB without Erling Haaland: "They of course have to slightly adapt their game without Haaland, but Modeste is also a classic target man with enormous quality. BVB will go forward quickly, play short passes and look for the passing lanes in the final third. We'll need to defend forward and with focus in order to keep them away from our goal as best we can. At the same time, we want to attack purposefully and take our chances. We're prepared for an opponent with huge quality, but we've shown in Leverkusen that games like this can suit us. We also have sufficient quality to be successful in such games. That's why we're going to Dortmund to get the win."

…the season to date: "I'm a long way from reading into the table right now. It's encouraging the season has started so well, although it could've been even better if you look at the Gladbach game. Regardless of the table, our objective is to play good football, be successful and win back the fans so that the stadium will be full again."

…the current winning streak: "The team has performed very well in recent matches and won in different ways. We turned the game around against Bochum, won very clearly and convincingly against Leverkusen and ground out a hard-fought win against Augsburg. That makes us strong. Regardless of our opponent, we want to bring our principles onto the pitch and show our conviction that we can be successful this way."

The personnel situation:

Philipp Pentke (elbow operation), Benjamin Hübner (ankle injury), Ihlas Bebou (knee problems) and Ermin Bičakčić (fitness training) will be unavailable for the game in Dortmund.

The opposition's form:

Like TSG, Borussia Dortmund have started the season with nine points from four matches. Edin Terzic's team beat Leverkusen 1-0 and racked up away triumphs in Freiburg (3-1) and against Hertha BSC (1-0), but they lost their home game against Bremen 3-2 despite holding a 2-0 lead going into the 89th minute. With the two teams level on points and goal difference, TSG are one place above BVB in the table due to their higher number of goals scored.

Head-to-head record:

TSG have faced Borussia Dortmund competitively on 30 previous occasions, 28 of them in the Bundesliga. There have been seven TSG victories, 11 wins for BVB and 10 stalemates. The combined goal difference is almost even at 44-43, with TSG narrowly behind. TSG have only won on two occasions in Dortmund, but BVB have emerged victorious from only one of the last four meetings at Signal Iduna Park.
