Breitenreiter: "An exciting match between equals"

TSG Hoffenheim will be targeting another home win when they play host to SC Freiburg on Sunday (19:30 CET/Live Ticker at tsg-hoffenheim.de) in the final fixture of Matchday 7. At the press conference prior to the Baden derby, head coach André Breitenreiter spoke about the opposition, the game on Sunday and his opposite number Christian Streich.

André Breitenreiter on…

…the match on Sunday: "We're hugely looking forward to the game. It's a Baden derby, a floodlight fixture and we'll have lots of fans in the stadium here. We of course want to continue our strong home record, even though it won't be easy against Freiburg. It'll be an exciting match between equals."

…the key to success: "We'll need to play with high intensity and go about our fundamentals with a clear approach. Our objective is to tire Freiburg out. They have had an English week. If we build on the performance from the second half against Mainz, I'm confident we'll manage that."

…SC Freiburg: "We're going up against a strong opponent that yesterday showed once again how good they are. They won comfortably in Piraeus. The success is no coincidence. They have unbelievably good positional play and are highly versatile. We know of their strengths and are ready for them. They're enormously dangerous from set-pieces."

…Christian Streich: "He extracts almost the maximum from the resources at his disposal. It is extraordinary for a coach to work for one club for so long. They also kept faith with him after a relegation and have gone on to have lasting success. That tells you that Christian Streich is doing an outstanding job."

…goalkeeper Oliver Baumann: "He is someone who leads the way with his performances. In addition, he's a senior player and currently captains the team. Oli is my first point of contact in the team. On top of that he's a fantastic guy who goes about his work very professionally. We can be very happy he plays for our club."

The personnel situation:

TSG will be without Ihlas Bebou, Ermin Bičakčić and Benjamin Hübner on Sunday. In addition, Robert Skov is doubtful with a thigh injury.

The opposition's form:

Freiburg have got off to a strong start to the season and currently occupy second spot in the Bundesliga table. Coach Christian Streich's side were in UEFA Europa League action in mid-week, winning 3-0 away to Olympiacos.

Head-to-head record:

The two teams managed to win a game each last season, with Hoffenheim claiming a 2-1 victory and Freiburg a 4-3. But overall, the men from Breisgau have the better head-to-head record in the Bundesliga with eight wins, compared to six defeats. There have also been 10 draws.
