Baumann: "The tough game we expected"

Here's what the players and coaches had to say after the 0-0 draw against SC Freiburg.

Oliver Baumann: "I would've liked to win, but it was fairly even. It was the tough game we expected; we were missing the last few percentage points to turn the match in our favour. There was a lot of battling, both teams demanded a lot from each other. In the end, the draw is a fair result. The start to the season has been good, even though we would've liked to win today. It's of course nice that I made my 400th Bundesliga appearance. The 100th clean sheet is very nice as well. But a victory with the team would've been much more important to me."

Grischa Prömel: "I'm finding it difficult to assess it correctly. We didn't perform well in the first half, yet I still had two chances. If I'd have put one of them away, the match would've gone differently. Freiburg are unpleasant opponents, and that is meant as a compliment. They've been doing really well for years. Nonetheless, we could've performed better today."

Ozan Kabak: "I think that it's a fair result. It was very tight, even and tough. Both teams had their opportunities. We were expecting exactly this kind of intense match. Freiburg are very well organised and a strong team. We can live with the point, even though we would of course have liked to win. We have already picked up 13 points, it's been a good season so far. But it could've been even better. We have a few new players and a new coach. Over time it will certainly get even better."

André Breitenreiter: "It was a match between equals. We saw that Freiburg have a very strong team, but we also saw that we can hold our own. It's a fair result. In the first half, we lacked composure and precision in possession and didn't play our positional game. But we then performed better in the second half; in my view, we had the better chances but were not lucky enough for one of them to go in. However, that perhaps wouldn't have been deserved. The draw works for both teams."

Christian Streich (SC Freiburg coach): "We expected a game exactly like this. Hoffenheim are very stable and have a strong team. My boys gave everything and had strong spells in the game. TSG have so much quality that you cannot stop them having chances. We have produced good performances in two consecutive games  both ending 0-0, although there were enough chances. I have to take my hat off to my team. In the end, the draw is deserved because both teams had chances."
