Stafylidis departs for VfL Bochum

Konstantinos Stafylidis is set to leave Bundesliga football club TSG Hoffenheim with immediate effect and join league rivals VfL Bochum. The 28-year-old defender's contract in the Kraichgau would have expired at the end of this season.

"During his time with us, Stafy unfortunately suffered repeated setbacks in the form of smaller and bigger injuries and as a result the expectations both parties had at the time of his signing could not be fulfilled," said Alexander Rosen. "He found his way back to stability during a loan spell with VfL last season and so we subsequently agreed we would allow him to make the move to Bochum permanent. We wish him all the very best for his future."

The Greek moved to Germany from PAOK Saloniki at the age of 18, joining Bayer 04 Leverkusen. Following a one-year loan spell at Fulham, the left-back signed for FC Augsburg in 2015. He made more than 50 Bundesliga appearances for FCA before moving to TSG on a free transfer in summer 2019. He played only seven Bundesliga matches (one goal) in the Kraichgau. Stafylidis has also made 32 international appearances for Greece.
