Prömel: "I've come to win matches"

Grischa Prömel secured a return to his old stomping ground when he re-joined TSG Hoffenheim – where the 27-year-old played between 2013 and 2015 – from 1. FC Union Berlin this summer. After the first training session, the midfielder spoke about his first impressions and his ambitions.

A warm welcome back, Grischa. How have your first days at TSG been?

"It's been very nice and I've enjoyed seeing many familiar faces again. Of course, there have also been some new ones to meet. However, it's still a familiar environment for me, so that of course makes it easy to get started."

What tipped the scales in TSG Hoffenheim's favour?

"The club's ambitions. I've been in Berlin for five years now, which was a very nice and successful period. Nevertheless, I was looking for a new challenge and TSG is now exactly the right step for me. I want to make a contribution to us playing successful football together. I've come to win games."

What's your first impression of the new head coach, André Breitenreiter?

"I already talked to him yesterday during the first tests. Then today he addressed the team for the first time. I'm looking forward to working with him, the first impression was very good."

In what way are you a different player now than you were in 2015 when you moved from TSG to Karlsruhe?

"I've become a lot more mature. Back then I came up through the youth ranks and didn't have a lot of experience. My time in the 2. Bundesliga and, in particularly, the years with Union Berlin made into the player that I am today. I also have a different demeanour on the pitch now, so I'm excited to make my contribution here."
