Baumgartner: ''We're brutally disappointed''

Here's what the players and coaches had to say after the 4-2 defeat against Bayer 04 Leverkusen.

Christoph Baumgartner: ''This is hard to take, it stings. The defeat today was the culmination of our bad run. We are all brutally disappointed. We had a few chances to score a third goal when we were 2-1 up, but then we gave away too many cheap goals. The game was emblematic of the whole season. We completely lost momentum with the defeat at Hertha BSC. At the end of the day, we can't say we deserved to win given the way we blew the lead. We showed that we can go toe-to-toe with a top side, but in the end we've been left empty-handed once again. On Saturday, we want to end the season with a positive feeling, and we will do everything to make sure that happens.''

Sebastian Hoeness: "We can be really happy with the performance in the first half. We were brave and managed to win a lot of balls high up the pitch. We deserved to take a 1-0 lead and we also reacted very well to their equaliser by going ahead again. Then there wasn't much in the way of good chances, so we were still leading 20 minutes before the end. We gave the ball away far too easily in the build-up to their second goal and were just far too passive in general. Their third goal was also poorly defended. You have to survive situations like that in order to have a shot at winning the game with a counter-attack. It's extremely disappointing from our point of view. We've ended up conceding four goals again, and that's not good enough to achieve a higher finish in the league table.''

Gerardo Seoane (Bayer 04 Leverkusen coach): ''My team have progressed really well this season. We played with the handbrake on in the first half. We weren't able to land many punches against a strong Hoffenheim side. The second half was much better. We were much more active and managed to turn the game around.''
