Volland: ''I still root for TSG''

Kevin Volland was a TSG Hoffenheim player from 2012 to 2016. It was in Sinsheim that he took his first steps in the Bundesliga and became a Germany international. Nowadays, the forward plies his trade for AS Monaco and is one of the most prolific German strikers playing abroad. In an interview with tsg-hoffenheim.de, the 29-year-old reflects on his time at Hoffenheim and discusses a possible reunion.

Kevin, it's been almost six years since you left TSG Hoffenheim. Do you still follow the team from afar?

"Of course. When I have a game myself, I at least check the result and watch the highlights. I root for TSG every weekend and I hope that they manage to qualify for Europe."

How do you look back on your time in Hoffenheim?

"It was a great four years and I always enjoy looking back on it. We felt very at home as a family in Heidelberg and the region and made a lot of friends. In addition, the team played good offensive football and entertained a lot of people. I couldn't imagine a better place to start out in the Bundesliga.''

Are you still in touch with former players or members of staff at TSG?

"I still get on incredibly well with Sebastian Rudy. Ermin Bičakčić and I also write to each other from time to time. I also have frequent contact with the physio Peter Geigle as well as Alexander Rosen. I'm looking forward to coming back to Zuzenhausen and seeing everyone again."

How are things going in Monaco?

"We got an important win last weekend and we want to qualify for European competition again this season. We are currently sixth, but it's a very close gap to third place. Maybe we'll even get a reunion with TSG. That would be a dream and a real career highlight for me.''
