Exemplary Africa Matchday

A big win off the pitch: TSG Hoffenheim's "Africa Matchday" on 2 April proved a success despite the team's 2-1 defeat to VfL Bochum. TSG's long-standing commitment to Africa was showcased through the colourful special shirt featuring the logo of TSG's own sustainable clothing brand "umoja". For years, Hoffenheim has focused its international commitment towards supporting sustainable development on the African continent. "Especially in these dire times of crisis, it is important to show that we can all do something to contribute to a greater sense of togetherness," said Denni Strich, managing director of TSG Hoffenheim.

Among the crowd of 15,014 spectators in the PreZero Arena was a high-ranking delegation from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). "TSG's engagement has been exemplary for years and we are happy about this special partnership that has been developed. We are looking forward to further joint projects," said Martin Wimmer from the ministry, who was joined in Sinsheim by his colleague Ute Eckertz and Hannes Utescher from the Society for International Cooperation (GIZ).
