Hübner tests positive for coronavirus

On and off the pitch, there's always something happening at TSG. In our "Box-to-box" series, we bring you exciting and interesting stories from the first team, the U23s, the academy and the women's team.

Hübner tests positive for coronavirus

TSG captain Benjamin Hübner has been tested positive for coronavirus. The defender is self-isolating at home. Due to mild cold symptoms, the 32-year-old took a Covid-19 test, which unfortunately yielded a positive result.

Rudy and Geiger sidelined

Bundesliga club TSG Hoffenheim will be without midfielders Sebastian Rudy and Dennis Geiger for the time being. The duo sustained injuries in the 2-1 victory against VfB Stuttgart on Friday.

Rudy is sidelined for now with torn muscle fibres in the back of his left thigh. The 32-year-old sustained the injury without opposition involvement shortly before the final whistle on Friday.

Dennis Geiger, who was forced off around the hour mark having taken knocks in both halves and was replaced by Rudy, will definitely be sidelined for the coming days. Over the weekend, the 23-year-old was thoroughly examined at Heidelberg University Hospital's head clinic by a team of experts led by Dr. Basem Ishak, in confidential consultation with the TSG medical department. Fortunately, these tests did not reveal anything abnormal.

Baumgartner makes "Team of the Round"

With a brace in the closing stages, Christoph Baumgartner proved to be the match-winner in TSG Hoffenheim's 2-1 derby victory against VfB Stuttgart on Friday evening. The gala performance drew widespread praise from the media, with "kicker" magazine selecting the 22-year-old as the "Man of the Match" and naming him in their "Team of the Round" for the first time this season. "BILD" also explicitly praised the Austrian and named him in their selection, as did "ARD Sportschau". But that was not all: he was the "Man of the day" for "Rheinpfalz" and the "Match-winner" for "SWR". We say congratulations and: good choice!
