Georginio prematurely extends contract

Bundesliga club TSG Hoffenheim have continued their consistent efforts to assemble a squad for the future and have tied an ambitious player to the club on a long-term deal. France U20 forward Georginio Rutter, 19, has prematurely extended his stay in the Kraichgau until 30 June 2026.

"Georgi has undergone a breath-taking development with us over the past year," said director of football Alexander Rosen. "He is one of the most promising youngsters in European football and his move to Hoffenheim has been a major boost for his further development. Despite his young age, he already has an incredible combination of athleticism, technique, speed and goal threat," Rosen added. "His impeccable character and engaging manner not only sped up his integration into our squad, but also made him a fan favourite in no time." As a result, Georginio has featured in all of TSG's competitive matches this season, scoring four times in 18 Bundesliga games and notching the same number of assists. The Frenchman was subsequently named the "most exciting player" of the first half of the season by Bundesliga broadcaster "Sky" shortly before Christmas.

"Everything I hoped for from this transfer has materialised thus far," said Georginio. "I've been given a great welcome here. I'm being supported in every way, I feel very well looked after and I'm looking forward to the future together with TSG. For young players like me, Hoffenheim is the perfect club."

At the beginning of January 2021, TSG agreed to sign Georginio on a free transfer in the summer. But following talks with Stade Rennes, Hoffenheim reached a deal to bring the transfer forward and sign the player in February last year. Since then, he has played 27 Bundesliga matches (five goals), two Europa League games and two DFB-Pokal ties. TSG have already extended the contracts of key players Oliver Baumann (until 2024), Kevin Vogt (2025) and Ihlas Bebou (2026) over the past few weeks.
