#Excitement: The TSG fixtures in January

Only a few days to go before the season finally restarts: TSG Hoffenheim will kick off the second half of their campaign on Saturday 8 January (15:30 CET) when they host FC Augsburg. But what other fixtures are coming up? tsg-hoffenheim.de takes a look at the Bundesliga team's games in January.

Matchday 18, Saturday 8 January 2022, 15:30 CET: TSG vs. FC Augsburg

FC Augsburg tend to be one of Hoffenheim's favourite foes in the Bundesliga. TSG have emerged victories in nine of the last 13 meetings, with Augsburg winning on only two occasions. Matchday 1 of the 2021/22 season also ended in victory over the Swabians for Sebastian Hoeness' side. Jacob Bruun Larsen, Sargis Adamyan, Georginio Rutter and Sebastian Rudy were the goalscorers in a 4-0 win over FCA. In addition, Augsburg have only ever won three times in Sinsheim.

Matchday 19, Saturday 15 January, 15.30 CET: 1. FC Union Berlin vs. TSG

TSG and Union Berlin have only met on five previous occasions. Two of those meetings were won by TSG, while the capital club have only tasted victory once. However, the last two clashes between the teams have ended in draws. TSG will go up against a familiar face in Berlin: Grischa Prömel, who played in the Kraichgau between 2013 and 2015, currently plies his trade in the Union Berlin midfield.

DFB-Pokal Round of 16, Wednesday 19 January, 20:45 CET: TSG vs. SC Freiburg

Baden derby in the cup: TSG will play host to SC Freiburg in the round of 16 and will be hoping to make the quarter-finals for the first time since 2015. Chris Richards will be particularly looking forward to the game: the defender scored a stoppage-time winner in the 2-1 Bundesliga victory in Freiburg in December. The last meeting between the pair in the DFB-Pokal came back in 2008, when Freiburg ran out 3-1 winners in the second round.

Matchday 20, Saturday 22 January, 15:30 CET: TSG vs. Borussia Dortmund

There could have hardly been any more excitement in the reverse fixture between the clubs – though unfortunately it was BVB who came out on top. Munas Dabbur levelled at 2-2 with the game already in stoppage time, only for Erling Haaland to grab a 3-2 win for BVB in the third minute of added time. The Westphalians have the superior head-to-head record, with 10 wins to seven.
