No spectators at TSG home games - information for ticket holders

In addition to the decisions made at the federal-state summit in Berlin, the state government has decided on significantly stricter restrictions for major events in Baden-Württemberg. This will affect TSG home games in the Bundesliga, which will once again have to be played in front of empty stands. The U23's Regionalliga match against VfB Stuttgart II this Friday at the Dietmar Hopp Stadium (19:00 CET) is still open to spectators. Fans of the TSG women's team in the Bundesliga can continue to attend their home games under the current regulations. The state government's decisions are a reaction to the latest developments in the Coronavirus pandemic. As of tomorrow, Saturday, only a maximum of 750 spectators will be allowed to attend large events.

"This decision is of course tantamount to a return to so-called ghost matches for us. We regret this very much. The situation remains very challenging for all of us. Of course, we would have wished and trusted that with the help of our established hygiene concept, we would at least have been able to hold a match with a significantly limited capacity. But as in the past, we will accept this new situation together and do our part to curb the risk of infection," says TSG managing director Frank Briel. "Nevertheless, it must be said that many experts continue to see no risk of contracting Covid at outdoor events with high hygiene standards. The studies conducted for the Bundesliga have so far confirmed this view," adds Briel.

Christian Seifert, spokesman for the DFL executive committee and DFL managing director, made the following comments with regards to large-scale events, among other things, after yesterday's conference of the federal chancellor and the heads of government of the federal states: "The DFL is aware of the difficult Covid situation that we are currently facing once again, especially with regard to the strain on some regional health systems. It is regrettable that due to the pandemic situation and the still too low vaccination rate in Germany, restrictions in many areas of life are necessary again at all. In this situation, what is needed is a nuanced and clear, but above all effective strategy on the part of policy makers. A temporary restriction on the admission of fans to stadiums is therefore understandable in principle. The DFL hopes that this decision by the federal and state governments will lay the foundation for a speedy improvement of the pandemic situation. The DFL and its clubs will of course continue to support all vaccination efforts."

Nationwide, stadiums may only be filled to a maximum of 50% capacity - capped at a maximum of 15,000 fans. Baden-Württemberg, like Bavaria and Saxony, has decided to take a stricter approach. "We have already taken far-reaching measures in Baden-Württemberg. Nevertheless, the worsening situation in intensive care units, the continuing very high incidence of infection in the state and the new virus variant make more stringent measures necessary. The first basic rule for the next few weeks is: we must radically reduce contacts again - in order to now flatten the wave before Christmas," said minister president Winfried Kretschmann (Greens) with regard to the current Covid situation in the state. TSG had already halted the sale of tickets at the beginning of the week.

Information on tickets already purchased

In view of the current decision and due to the currently uncertain forecasts with regard to the re-admission of spectators at TSG Hoffenheim home matches, we will inform our season ticket holders via email within 14 days about a refund for the matches played behind closed doors. Matchday tickets already booked for the Bundesliga game against Eintracht Frankfurt (men) will be cancelled in the next few days and refunded via the payment method used. The fan shop will retain its usual Saturday opening hours (10:00 to 14:00 CET) on non-home match days.

TSG Hoffenheim thanks you in advance for your patience as well as for your support during these challenging times.
