Gladbach in crisis as fifth defeat looms

After Matchday 16 in midweek, the first round of fixtures of the 2021/22 season will come to an end on the fourth weekend of Advent. TSG Hoffenheim take on Borussia Mönchengladbach at the PreZero Arena on Saturday (15:30 CET/liveticker on tsg-hoffenheim.de). Going into the game, the two teams could hardly find themselves in more different situations: the club from the Lower Rhine are in crisis, while TSG are riding high. Ahead of the clash with the Foals, we have compiled the most important facts and figures on #TSGBMG.

Did you know that…

…the two teams come into the game with very contrasting runs of form?

Borussia have lost each of their last four Bundesliga games and are now in danger of losing five league games in a row for the first time since the start of the 2015/16 season. TSG, on the other hand, are unbeaten in their last five. After going on a four-match winning run, they picked up a 2-2 draw in Leverkusen on Wednesday.

…TSG are very strong at home at the moment?

Hoffenheim have won all of their last five Bundesliga games at home and have the chance to win six home games in a row for the first time since 2018. Moreover, no other team in the Bundesliga currently boast such a long home winning streak as TSG.

…TSG have had one of their best ever first half-seasons?

With 27 points after 16 games, TSG are having their best campaign since 2016/17, when they had 28 points at this point of the season. Only once before have TSG bettered their current record of eight wins after 16 games. This was in the club's first season in the Bundesliga, when they notched up 11 wins.

…Gladbach's defence is leaking goals?

The Foals have conceded 17 times in their last four matches, which is more than the 14 goals they let in in the first 12 games of the season. The last time Gladbach conceded more goals after 16 matches of a Bundesliga season was in 2010/11 (45).

…TSG are particularly strong in the final 15 minutes?

Each of Hoffenheim's last three Bundesliga goals have been scored in the final 15 minutes. League-wide, no other team have scored as many goals in the closing quarter-hour of games (11), while only Fürth (13) have conceded more goals in the last 15 minutes than Gladbach (9).
