Late starters versus strong defenders

Ahead of the international break, TSG Hoffenheim will visit VfL Bochum on Matchday 11. The Kraichgauers will be aiming to build on their recent successful run by picking up another win against the promoted side on Saturday (15:30 CET / Live Ticker at tsg-hoffenheim.de). We have compiled the most important facts and figures on #BOCTSG below.

Did you know that...

…the last time these two sides met was more than a decade ago?

VfL Bochum and TSG Hoffenheim have gone head-to-head in competitive encounters on four occasions, with each team picking up two victories. The last meeting between the two sides came back on 13 February 2010, when Bochum ran out 2-1 winners on home soil.

…Andrej Kramarić could reach a special landmark?

Andrej Kramaric has already registered eight goal involvements this season (two goals & six assists)  by some distance the most of any Hoffenheim player. Only last season did the Croat have more goal involvements after 10 matches (nine) than he does this term. One more goal in Bochum would see Kramarić reach a special landmark: the Croat would then have 100 competitive goals for TSG.

…taking a 1-0 lead is almost a points guarantee for TSG?

When Hoffenheim score the first goal, it's highly likely the fans will have something to celebrate at the final whistle. More than a year (and 41 Bundesliga matches) have passed since the last time TSG lost after taking a 1-0 lead (a defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt on 3 October 2020). Sebastian Hoeness' team have also won each of the last three matches in which they opened the scoring.

…TSG really turn on the heat in the closing stages?

TSG Hoffenheim have scored seven goals in the final quarter of an hour of matches in the Bundesliga this season a league high. VfL Bochum, on the other hand, have already conceded five goals during this period of the game the only club in the league currently worse is Greuther Fürth (eight).

…VfL Bochum are a real defensive force at home?

The promoted outfit have kept clean sheets in both of their last two Bundesliga home games and have not conceded in three of their four home matches this term the best record of any team in the league. The last time Bochum kept three consecutive clean sheets in Bundesliga home games was back in 2004 under coach Peter Neururer.
