WIR H11EN – TSG Hoffenheim help chronically ill children

TSG Hoffenheim are launching the joint fundraising campaign "WIR H11EN" with the foundation "COURAGE for chronically ill children". 11 euros, 111 euros, 1,111 euros or even more - just as the eleven footballers on the pitch form a team, the number 11 is also symbolically at the centre of the "WIR H11EN" fundraising appeal. The goal of the Bundesliga football club and the foundation associated with the Heidelberg Children's Hospital is to get as many people as possible to donate any number featuring 11. TSG stars Sebastian Rudy and Christoph Baumgartner have taken on the role of campaign ambassadors, while TSG sporting director Alexander Rosen has already been a COURAGE ambassador for several years.

"We would like to encourage people - especially our fans, football fans in general and our club partners - to familiarise themselves with and support the incredibly important work done by COURAGE. The COURAGE team's eleven-donation idea will enable additional projects to be be set up and financed, meaning the plight of the children will be alleviated at least a little," says Alexander Rosen, adding: "Ever since the establishment of the foundation, supporting COURAGE has been a matter close to my heart. I'm very happy that TSG have joined this project and I'm delighted about the willingness of Sebastian Rudy and Christoph Baumgartner to become ambassadors for the 'WIR H11EN' fundraising campaign.''

The donations will be used for important treatments and projects for chronically ill children at the Heidelberg Children's Hospital. At the Centre for Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine at Heidelberg University Hospital, around 15,000 children and adolescents with chronic diseases such as congenital kidney failure, diabetes, rheumatism, congenital metabolic disorders, heart defects or cancer are cared for. The affected children and adolescents usually have to live under many restrictions and are faced with considerable challenges. Long hospital stays, treatments and operations, irregular attendance at nursery and school as well as physical impairments all demand a great deal of strength and perseverance. In addition, there are often fears and anxieties about the future. Various support projects run by the COURAGE Foundation enable a better quality of life for the young patients and their families.

''The collaboration with TSG Hoffenheim is a wonderful opportunity for COURAGE to showcase our work with chronically ill children and their parents to a wider public. We are extremely grateful that the entire TSG team have dedicated part of their extraordinary social commitment to our cause. What is more, the TSG players are both role models and beacons of hope for the children and represent what they need most: joy, confidence and perseverance," says Petra Köllner-Kleinemeier, chairwoman of the COURAGE Foundation. Christoph Baumgartner and Sebastian Rudy visited this year's holiday course for children and young people with kidney disease in Bad Herrenalb in the Black Forest in August. The duo played football with the children and learned about their everyday lives.

In order to promote the fundraising campaign "WIR H11EN", which will run throughout the 2021/22 season, TSG Hoffenheim have created a campaign video, which will be shown on social media channels and elsewhere over the next few weeks. All information about the campaign is also summarised once again in the new issue of the club magazine SPIELFELD.
