All three of Hoffenheim's cup matches during Sebastian Hoeness' tenure have gone into extra time. It took penalties to decide the winner against Chemnitz and Fürth (both in 2020) and TSG made it through the first round this year after beating Viktoria Köln 3-2 after extra time.
