Hoeness: "Floodlight games are cool and special"

The next highlight at the PreZero Arena is fast approaching: three days after their DFB-Pokal tie against Holstein Kiel, TSG Hoffenheim will host Hertha BSC in the Bundesliga (Friday at 20:30 CET). In the run-up to the floodlight clash with the Berlin outfit, Sebastian Hoeness issued a personnel update and spoke about the strong home run and the opposition.

Sebastian Hoeness on…

…the personnel situation: "Nothing has changed compared to the last game. We're still waiting on Christoph Baumgartner's test result and hope that he will be available for us. Benjamin Hübner, Marco John, Ermin Bičakčić and Pavel Kadeřábek will again miss out."

…the good home run of three competitive wins on the bounce: "It can happily continue like this. We're delighted that it's currently going so well at home, but we also know that Hertha are a different kettle of fish to Kiel. Floodlight games are cool and have a special atmosphere. We want to continue our home record against a resurgent Hertha and entertain the fans."

…the opposition: "A lot happened at Hertha in the summer. In the past two years, they have spent a lot of money and changed the squad enormously. That sometimes then requires time before there is a certain continuity in the team. Under Pal Dardai, Berlin are very compact and focus on the basics of football. Hertha give away very little and have also proven that against strong teams."

Head-to-head record:

Hertha BSC have become Hoffenheim's favourite foe: TSG have lost only one of the last 11 meetings (seven victories and three draws) with the capital club. Hoffenheim also have the better overall head-to-head record with 11 wins, five draws and six defeats.

The opposition's form:

The men from Berlin lost their first three games of the season. Since then, coach Pal Dardai's charges have won four of their six matches and qualified for the last 16 of the DFB-Pokal courtesy of a 3-1 victory away to Regionalliga side Preußen Münster in midweek. Hertha currently sit 10th in the Bundesliga, a place and a point ahead of TSG.
