Denmark book World Cup berth – Dabbur scores and wins
There were 35,000 spectators at the Parken Stadium in Copenhagen to see the Denmark national team run out 1-0 winners against Austria. TSG players Stefan Posch and Florian Grillitsch played the full 90 minutes for the ÖFB team, but they were powerless to prevent their side from losing due to Joakim Maehle's 53rd-minute goal. Within the victorious Danish ranks was Jacob Bruun Larsen, though the TSG midfielder did not feature. That Group F victory seals Denmark's spot at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, while the defeat leaves Austria still on 10 points and with their qualification hopes hanging in the balance. Second spot is now out of reach for Austria, with the Nations League path representing the last route to the tournament for Franco Foda's charges. Those matches will be played across three mini-tournaments – each with semi-finals and a final – between 24 and 29 March 2022.
For Munas Dabbur and the Israeli national team, however, the matchday ended positively: Israel claimed an important 2-1 win against Moldova at the Turner Stadium in Be’er Scheva. Dabbur extended the lead to 2-0 in the 49th minute, with Moldova only narrowing the deficit in the fourth minute of stoppage time. The victory leaves Dabbur & Co. in third spot in Group F on 13 points, three clear of Austria.
The Germany U21s, whose ranks include TSG duo Luca Philipp and Angelo Stiller, kept up their strong run and picked up their fourth victory in four EURO qualifiers. Antonio di Salvo's charges beat their Hungarian counterparts 5-1. Philipp and Stiller both made the starting XI and played the full 90 minutes at the Szent Gellert Forum in Szeged.
