Baumann: ''We made it too easy for Stuttgart''

Here's what the players and coaches had to say after the 3-1 defeat to VfB Stuttgart.

Oliver Baumann: "We lacked effectiveness in the first half. It was an even game at that point. After that, we were not strong enough in the tackle. That's why it was a deserved defeat. We made it too easy for Stuttgart. We have to work on that and act more decisively in these situations. We can't allow ourselves to lose our heads if we go behind. It was a step backwards after the Wolfsburg game."

Chris Richards: ''It's a disappointing defeat. We lost our focus after a strong start. We showed a lot of promise in those early stages. We knew Stuttgart were dangerous at set-pieces, but we still couldn't prevent them going 1-0 up from one. We want to come back stronger after the international break and get more points on the board.''

Sebastian Hoeness: ''Until we conceded the opening goal, we had three big chances and were the better team. Just after Bebou hit the crossbar, we went and conceded a goal from a corner. In the second half, we faced a period of sustained pressure from VfB, but we didn't give away too many chances. The second goal was far too easy for them. We had a chance to strike back immediately afterwards through Kramarić, but instead we conceded another goal. Our goal came too late. We also had some good periods of play, but for the most part we lacked the final punch today. That meant it was too easy for Stuttgart.''

Pellegrino Matarazzo (VfB Stuttgart): ''We started the game well. That said, we were also a bit lucky to not fall behind. The set-piece goal to make it 1-0 was a big help for us, of course. Our high press was very successful. In the second half, we kept plugging away and then put our foot on the gas. I think it was a deserved win.“
