Off we go again: First friendly in Heidenheim

There is huge anticipation as TSG Hoffenheim prepare for their first friendly of the 2021/22 season away to 1. FC Heidenheim.

It's the moment TSG Hoffenheim fans and players have been waiting for – for the first time this pre-season, Sebastian Hoeness and his charges are preparing for an official friendly. Prior to heading to their Tegernsee training camp, TSG will take on 1. FC Heidenheim away from home on Saturday (13:30 CET). New signing Angelo Stiller could make his TSG debut against the second-tier side.

For 1. FC Heidenheim, however, the friendly against TSG will be the final dress rehearsal before starting their Bundesliga 2 campaign against SC Paderborn on 24 July (13:30 CET). Heidenheim finished last term in eighth and again demonstrated that coach Frank Schmidt's team are an established force in the division. Heidenheim were denied victory in the play-off by Werder Bremen in 2019/20, narrowly missing out on promotion to the Bundesliga. From a TSG point of view, Denis Thomalla is one to keep an eye on in the Heidenheim squad: the striker played for TSG Hoffenheim between 2010 and 2013, making four Bundesliga appearances for the club.

Specators will be allowed to attend the match at the Voith-Arena. The stadium opens at 11:30 CET. All visitors to the stadium must provide proof that they fulfil the "3G Rule" (negative test, full vaccination or full recovery).

Friendly to be streamed

For spectators not at the stadium, TSG will be offering a special service: the match will be live-streamed at tsg-hoffenheim.de as well as on Hoffenheim's YouTube channel. The broadcast will begin shortly before kick-off.
