Ihlas Bebou in quarantine

Ihlas Bebou has tested positive for coronavirus. The TSG Hoffenheim striker has immediately gone into quarantine at home.

The Bundesliga club subsequently subjected the squad, as well as all coaching staff and officials, to both an antigen test and a PCR test on Saturday morning. In addition, the opponent in today's season opener at the PreZero Arena, Stade de Reims, was kept informed of the development. The French top-flight club opted to go ahead with the match against TSG, and the authorities also agreed to let the game be played. TSG won 3-1 in front of 3,419 spectators.

The results of the tests all came back negative, so the authorities did not impose any further conditions and TSG can continue their preparations for the 2021/22 season. The first competitive game will go ahead as planned on Monday 9 August (18:30 CET), when Hoffenheim travel to Viktoria Cologne in the DFB-Pokal first round.
