"TSG Hilft" awarded Sepp Herberger certificate by DFB

The non-profit association "TSG hilft", founded by Bundesliga club TSG Hoffenheim, has received an award from the DFB's Sepp Herberger Foundation for its commitment during the corona pandemic.

“TSG Hilft” (TSG Helps) received the Sepp-Herberger certificate along with a recognition award in the special category "corona commitment" for "impressive commitment and (...) outstanding relief measures for people in need due to corona", as per the DFB Foundation official statement. On Tuesday (22 June), Johannes Schinko, Chairman of the Sinsheim football district, officially presented the certificate to the board of the "TSG Hilft" association led by Christian Laier and Karl Denz in the presence of Kristian Baumgärtner, executive chairman of TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.

"We are very proud that the work of 'TSG Hilft' is so valued and appreciated," said board member Christian Laier. "The certificate is a confirmation for us and it matches the many positive feedbacks from clubs we have already been able to help." TSG Managing Director Denni Strich was equally enthusiastic: "It makes us proud as TSG Hoffenheim that our commitment in our region is now also being noticed and recognised nationwide. We hope that this initiative, which is already supported by many people, will continue to grow so that together we can maintain and strengthen the clubs as the focal point of social life."

All in all, "TSG Hilft" was able to distribute around €1 million to a total of 264 clubs and social institutions within one year. The project continues to meet with a great response from clubs that have run into difficulties in the wake of the corona pandemic. The relief fund was launched by TSG Hoffenheim in March 2020 because it is an important concern for the Bundesliga club to live up to its guiding principle of assuming social responsibility, especially in a crisis.

The resources of the relief fund are made up of a salary waiver by Bundesliga professionals employed by TSG, the coaches and support staff as well as the club management. In addition, the club's junior teams, several partner companies, many fans and other individuals have filled the fund with their donations. The "TSG Hilft" project will continue indefinitely.
