TSG and PwC agree eSports cooperation

TSG Hoffenheim and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), one of the leading global audit and consulting companies, have signed a cooperation agreement for the football Bundesliga team's eSports commitment.

Within the framework of the agreement, strategies will be developed to further expand this field, which is still quite a new area for TSG. Most recently, TSG's eSports division celebrated its first major success when the team achieved automatic qualification to the final round in their first participation in the Virtual Bundesliga Club Championship organized by the German Football League, where it just failed to take the title back to the Kraichgau. The TSG team, newly assembled before the season, thus ranked among the top eight clubs in the VBL among 26 participating teams – an astonishing achievement in in their very first season.

In the course of the cooperation, PwC has worked with TSG in an advisory capacity with regard to current trends and market developments in eSports in order to establish a business model for a future that is still holds plenty of promise. In this context, new potential business areas and revenue streams have been identified.   "We are pleased to have a strong, well-known partner in PwC, who will help us to reach a young target market through eSports and win them over to TSG," said Denni Strich, managing director of TSG Hoffenheim, who is now also responsible for eSports in addition to his main areas of sales & marketing and communication.

TSG Hoffenheim's eSports commitment consists of professional sport on the one hand and casual gaming on the other. In addition to the eSports professionals, who will look to provide some big highlights in official competitions, there is a wide range of activities available to all those who want to test themselves in the virtual gaming arena. The TSG Fan eCup, open to all those who want to participate, has now established itself in the FIFA scene and serves as a talent pool for the professional team.
