Skov: "We're on the right track"

It hasn't been an easy season for Robert Skov. The Dane tested positive for coronavirus and has had various injury problems to deal with. But the 24-year-old is now fit and raring to go. In an interview with tsg-hoffenheim.de, he spoke about his personal performance his season, the run-in and his best position.

Robert, how do you assess your season? You have been repeatedly injured, plus you had the setback of a corona infection to deal with.

"It's been a difficult season for me. But things have been going in the right direction in the past weeks. I'm working hard in training and am on the right track. That gives me a good feeling. I'm currently feeling very happy."

The season is drawing to a close. What do you still hope to achieve with TSG?

"For me, it's important we end the season with our heads held high. We've had our ups and downs this season. Things have looked very good in the last four matches. We're on the right track and need to build on our performances. We need to perform more consistently."

You're up against FC Schalke 04 on Saturday. There has been some turmoil at the club since their relegation was confirmed. Do you take notice of that?

"We're obviously aware of the turmoil, Schalke are a big club. But we're thinking solely about ourselves; that's where our focus is. We want to produce a good performance and win. It doesn't matter to us who are opponent is and what's happening at the club."

You've often been used in an attacking role recently, is that where you see your future?

"I think I help the team the most in an attacking role. The position motivates me and spurs me on; I also have a bigger influence on the game there. I welcome the competition and want to stake my claim. I've also had some talks with the coaching staff, who see me as an attacking player. However, I'm proud of the fact that I've asserted myself on the left flank."
