Kadeřábek: "We can play with freedom"

Pavel Kadeřábek has been a TSG Hoffenheim player since 2015. The 29-year-old is a fan favourite and a permanent fixture on the right flank for the Hoffenheim first team. In an interview with tsg-hoffenheim.de, the Czech international spoke about TSG's two remaining games this season, making his comeback from injury and the upcoming European Championship.

Pavel, you mathematically secured your top-flight status on Saturday. What's your goal for the remaining two matches?

"The win against Schalke gave us an unbelievable boost. Now any last worries we had about survival are gone. We can play with freedom and without pressure in Bielefeld and against Hertha, and build on our good performances from the last few weeks. We want to end the season with good results."

You missed four months of the season through injury. How did you feel during that time?

"It was an unusual feeling for me because I've not previously been out for so long. I felt very helpless watching on television, especially because things weren't going so well for us. It wasn't an easy time. That makes me all the happier now that I'm back on the pitch."

You made your comeback on Matchday 18 and have since set up four goals. How do you assess your own performances?

"After discussions with the coaches, I was gradually eased back in to the set-up. And I'm obviously delighted if I can help the team out. In the past few weeks, we've again started to show what we're all about in Hoffenheim. We want to keep showing that now in the next two games and then again next season as well."

Prior to the 2021/22 season, you will be taking part in this summer's European Championships with the Czech national team. What are your objectives for the tournament?

"We want to get through the group phase. I know that it won't be easy in a group with England, Croatia and Scotland, but the team is in good form and we're all looking forward to the tournament. The highlight for me personally will of course be my clash with Andrej (Kramarić), which I absolutely must not lose." (laughs)
