Hoeness: ''We want to continue our run''

TSG Hoffenheim are set to play their last away game of the 2020/21 season on Saturday (15:30 CET, liveticker at tsg-hoffenheim.de). TSG will travel to the SchücoArena to face Arminia Bielefeld, who are locked in a relegation battle with two games to go. Ahead of the clash with the promoted side from east Westphalia, head coach Sebastian Hoeness spoke to the press about the personnel situation, the Bundesliga run-in and the opposition.

Sebastian Hoeness on…

…the opposition:

''Bielefeld are extremely unpleasant to play against. Under Franz Kramer they've been characterised by the low number of goals they concede. With the exception of the Gladbach game they've kept a lot of clean sheets recently. Bielefeld have a simple and clear style of play, which I mean as a compliment. That's helped them pick up a lot of points recently. They also manage to cover a serious amount of ground. The opposition will ask a lot of us, but we will throw everything at them and target their weaknesses.''

…the personnel situation:

''Konstantinos Stafylidis, Ermin Bičakčić, Benjamin Hübner, Dennis Geiger, Howard Nordtveit, Oliver Baumann and Chris Richards are all out injured for this game. Munas Dabbur and Christoph Baumgartner are also both unavailable. Joshua Brenet hasn't come with us to the quarantine hotel, we've reached a mutual agreement on that.''

…the Bundesliga run-in:

''We've turned a corner in the last five games, certainly compared to the three games before that anyway. Now we want to keep it up. As soon as we get out onto the pitch, we want to show that we want to win. We've had a good week with a nice mix of relaxation and enjoyment, but also a good desire to win. We have no reason to take our feet off the gas, we want to continue our run and of course get another win on Saturday.''

…the injury to Christoph Baumgartner:

''That put a bit of a dampener on my birthday. Baumi has become a core player for all of us. He's always been a player we can depend on, which isn't always the case for someone his age. I would have liked to have had him there for the rest of the season. Now it's about him being fit to play for Austria at the EURO. I think we can be optimistic about seeing him at the tournament.''

The opposition's form:

With two matchdays to go, Arminia Bielefeld are caught in a relegation battle. Coach Frank Kramer's side are currently in 16th place with 31 points. Bielefeld have lost just one of their last six games (two wins and three draws).

Head-to-head record:

TSG Hoffenheim and Arminia Bielefeld have met on three previous occasions in the Bundesliga. In the 2008/09 season, TSG came out on top in both fixtures, winning 2-0 and 3-0 respectively. The reverse fixture this season ended in a 0-0 draw, meaning TSG have yet to lose or concede a goal in a Bundesliga game against Bielefeld.
