Baumann: "A step in the right direction"

Here’s what the players and coaches had to say after TSG Hoffenheim's 0-0 draw with Bayer 04 Leverkusen:

Christoph Baumgartner: "Today we have kept a clean sheet against opponents who have a lot of quality, particularly when it comes to attacking. Of course, we would have liked to have had more chances, but we were not good enough in possession today. But it was a very important point that we deserved thanks to our team spirit. Neither team has been feeling too confident recently. Then you can get a game like that with so few chances."

Oliver Baumann: "The 0-0 is a step in the right direction. The games before were simply not good enough. Today it was much better. We fought well and defended very well. Of course we would like to have more chances, but we kept a clean sheet against Leverkusen. That's not bad. We don't have much of a gap to the teams below us. We need to get the basics right so we don't slip down the table."

Ryan Sessegnon: "After three defeats, it is in principle a positive result. We kept a clean sheet, which we haven't managed for a long time. 0-0 against a strong team is a good start. Today we have shown a willingness to defend together, to support each other. Now comes the next difficult game against Leipzig. We can build on our defensive performance and try to get a little better going forward."

Florian Grillitsch: "It was neither fish nor fowl. We showed a different side to our game than in the weeks before. Defensively, it was very good. We kept a clean sheet and didn't allow them to create many chances. But it didn't work well up-front. We didn't force the issue enough. That needs to get better, but we can build on the performance and are looking forward."

Chris Richards: "It was a step in the right direction. We had an intense week of training, and we showed that intensity in the game today. If we continue with that passion, we will also get positive results to finish the season well."

Sebastian Hoeness: "The defensive stability allowed us to keep a clean sheet. That is a positive. It was important for us to get a reaction. We defended very aggressively and had good body language. We'll take that with us into the next few games. There weren't many chances. It was certainly not a treat for the fans. When we didn't have the ball, however, it looked very good. We know we have been missing something up-front, but we will take the point."

Hannes Wolf (coach of Bayer 04 Leverkusen): "We played a very good game defensively and also had some situations going forward where we could have created some chances. Of course, we would have liked to have scored a goal, but we sometimes got in our own way today."
