TSG lose to Stuttgart

TSG Hoffenheim lost 2-0 away to VfB Stuttgart on Matchday 25. Hoffenheim were the livelier side, especially in the second period, but Stuttgart were more clinical. Having previously gone unbeaten in four successive Bundesliga games, it was the Kraichgau club's first defeat since 7 February.

Personnel & tactics:

Head coach Sebastian Hoeness made one change to the starting XI that beat VfL Wolfsburg 2-0 last time out, with Ryan Sessegnon replacing Marco John on the left flank. An unchanged back three of Kasim Adams, Florian Grillitsch and Chris Richards sat in front of goalkeeper Oliver Baumann, while Pavel Kadeřábek kept his place on the right. Diadie Samassékou partnered Sebastian Rudy in central midfield, with Christoph Baumgartner slightly further forward in the hole behind the attacking duo of Ihlas Bebou and Andrej Kramarić.

Injury forced TSG into making their first substitution of the match early in the second period, with Munas Dabbur replacing Baumgartner on 48 minutes. Kramarić dropped back into midfield. Around the hour mark, Robert Skov was introduced in place of Sessegnon on the left side (59). An attacking double substitution followed in the 82nd minute, with forwards Georginio Rutter and Sargis Adamyan brought on in place of Bebou and Samassékou.

Moment of the match:

The 38th minute: Andrej Kramarić had a golden chance to equalise with a header from Pavel Kadeřábek's cross, but the usually so clinical Croat did not connect properly and headed the ball straight at Gregor Kobel.
