Bebou: "Full steam ahead into the final sprint"

TSG's player of the month of February with five goal contributions already since the winter break, Ihlas Bebou has been one of the best players in the TSG Hoffenheim squad in recent weeks. Ahead of the derby at VfB Stuttgart (Sunday, 18:00 CET), the striker spoke about the win against Wolfsburg, the first match against Stuttgart this season and his aims for this season.

How do you feel after the victory against Wolfsburg? What is the mood of the team?

"We finally got the win we deserved. In the first half in particular, we were very good. In the second half, it was more about battling, but we ended up taking home all three points and that's all that matters. The mood in the dressing room after the game was good, as you might expect."

What sort of game do you expect against Stuttgart?

"It's going to be a difficult game. Stuttgart have a very good team and are doing well – especially for a newly promoted side. We have to be switched on from the first second and give everything to win the game. But I am convinced of the quality in our team, and that we can succeed on Sunday."

What are your memories of the reverse fixture?

"It was a crazy match. We didn't start the game well and were 1-2 down at the break. After that, we were much better and deserved to win. Unfortunately, Stuttgart managed to grab an equaliser in injury time to make it 3-3."

You were used in an unfamiliar position with on the right-hand side of the midfield.

"At the time, we were missing a lot of players. The position was a bit unusual for me, of course, but it worked out quite well. But I feel more comfortable up front." (laughs)

What are your goals for the rest of the season?

"We can fully focus on the Bundesliga. We are only looking at one game at a time and want to climb up the table. We will go full steam ahead into the final sprint. We will have to see what we can manage in the end."
