TSG lose to Frankfurt

There were no points for TSG Hoffenheim on Matchday 20 of the Bundesliga season as they were beaten 3-1 (1-0) by Eintracht Frankfurt. Ihlas Bebou did net an equaliser on the 47-minute mark, only for Frankfurt to respond with two quick-fire goals to seal the victory.

Personnel & tactics:

First appearance and first start for Chris Richards: the loan signing from the record champions was one of three changes to the team that lost 4-1 to FC Bayern. Joining him in the back three protecting goalkeeper Oliver Baumann was the returning Kevin Vogt and Stefan Posch, with Marco John and Mijat Gaćinović keeping their places out wide. Head coach Sebastian Hoeness stuck with the same midfield of Sebastian Rudy, Diadie Samassékou and Christoph Baumgartner, while Ishak Belfodil replaced Ihlas Bebou and started alongside Andrej Kramarić in attack.

TSG made a double substitution at the interval, with Pavel Kadeřábek and Ihlas Bebou coming on for Gaćinović and Baumgartner. Bebou played alongside Belfodil up front, with Kramarić now operating from midfield. Samassékou made way for Florian Grillitsch with 20 minutes left on the clock. In the closing stages, Sebastian Hoeness went all out attack and brought on Munas Dabbur for Posch (83).

Moment of the game:

Frankfurt's two-goal salvo: TSG made a bright start to the second period and rewarded themselves with the equaliser, but the Eagles scored twice within 90 seconds between the 62nd and 64th minutes to seal the win.

Number of the game: 8

The equaliser was Ihlas Bebou's eighth goal involvement this term (four goals and four assists). That's the most the Togo international, who was making his 50th Bundesliga appearance for TSG Hoffenheim against Frankfurt, has ever managed in a single season.
