Strobl: "An exciting encounter"

Return to the old stomping ground: from 2011 to 2016 Tobias Strobl was under contract with TSG Hoffenheim. During that time, he was loaned out to 1. FC Cologne for one season (2012/13). On Monday (20:30 CET, live updates on tsg-hoffenheim.de), the 30-year-old will return to TSG as an FC Augsburg player. Before the game, tsg-hoffenheim.de spoke with the midfielder about Augsburg's start to the season, the match on Monday and his past in Hoffenheim.

Tobias, after a very good start to the season, you are eighth in the table after nine matches. How satisfied are you with your current points haul?

"We are satisfied for the moment, but we must not rest on our laurels. There is still a long season ahead of us and we need to keep earning points to finish the season successfully."

You transferred from Borussia Mönchengladbach to FCA before the start of the season and have now become a first team regular. Do you feel at home in Augsburg?

"I feel very comfortable in the team, at the club and in the area. At first, I had some problems because I arrived with an injury from my time at Gladbach. It took a little while, but now I feel really fit. It was just the right move for me to make."

On Monday, you travel to TSG Hoffenheim. Neither team has been able to win too often in the Bundesliga in recent weeks. What sort of game do you expect?

"I hope for an exciting encounter with everything football has to offer. It's going to be a great evening of football, where we want to show our quality and combative attitude on the pitch that make us strong. If we bring our unity and mentality on to the pitch, I am confident that we will end up on top."

You played almost 100 games for the TSG first team in total. How do you remember your time there?

"It was a wonderful time when I was allowed to take my first steps at the professional level. I am very grateful for that and so always have happy memories looking back to my four years in Hoffenheim."
