Baumgartner: "We're very disappointed"

Here's what the players and coaches said after the 1-0 defeat to RB Leipzig.

Christoph Baumgartner: "It's a very unlucky defeat. For me, it was a match between equals. The goal we conceded is extremely bitter for us because Kevin Vogt was receiving treatment on the sidelines at the time. But Leipzig also did very well in that situation. It obviously hurts because we performed extremely well and gave nothing away. We didn't have all that many chances ourselves, but we could well have scored. We're very disappointed, but we'll pick ourselves back up tomorrow. We want to get points in Gladbach on Saturday."

Ryan Sessegnon: "We're obviously very disappointed that we didn't get any points. We performed well, especially in the first half, but it wasn't enough. It was very intense with lots of close-fought challenges."

Kevin Akpoguma: "The difference was the efficiency in the final third of the pitch. Both teams gave few chances away. It's bitter, but it was positive from a performance point of view. The coaches set up the teams well; we were very good defensively but offensively it was tough to find solutions. You have to put such evenings to the back of your mind and look ahead. The next game is coming up on Saturday; our focus must now switch to Gladbach."

Robert Skov: "Both teams implemented their tactics well; we made it very difficult for Leipzig and worked well together as a team. We had the big opportunity to go ahead in the first half. Then it would've been a very different game. But in the end we come away with no points. We need to keep working. We have the opportunity in training every day to improve on the little things so that the ball ends up in the back of the net more often in our matches."

Sebastian Hoeness: "I was pleased with the performance from my team. We had three players suspended and did a very good job in keeping a top team like RB Leipzig away from our goal. We gave away nothing at all until we conceded the goal. We were tactically very clever and ensured that it was no fun for Leipzig. But we were also missing the necessary clarity in front of goal. It's crazy that Leipzig scored with their very first chance. Of course, it's incredibly bitter that we were a man down at that time. In my opinion, we did not deserve to lose."

Julian Nagelsmann (RB Leipzig coach): "The matches at the moment are slow-going; it was all a bit too sluggish, not active enough. We then changed things around slightly at the break and had significantly more control after the break, and had the one good moment. We had a clear-cut goalscoring chance and we took it. Whether that was entirely deserved or not is not what counts."
