TSG extend Adamyan's contract

A few days after defender Stefan Posch signed a new deal, Sargis Adamyan has also extended his contract with TSG Hoffenheim. The Armenian international has signed for the Bundesliga side until 2023.

A foot injury had put the agile attacker out of action for several months. The 27-year-old attacker showed discipline and persistence while working on his comeback, and was able to rejoin the team as they were preparing for the current season at the end of August. He made his first Bundesliga appearance this season in late October in the away draw in Bremen (1-1). In the Europa League home game against Slovan Liberec, Adamyan then entered the goalscorers list and underlined his qualities as a striker, scoring a brace after he was subbed into the game.

"We are delighted that Sargis is back to full fitness and gives us even more options up-front. Last season, with outstanding performances and important goals, he impressively proved TSG were right to pluck him out of the second division. His long absence was all the more bitter because he is a player who is always good for a goal because of his speed and his excellent finishing," explained Alexander Rosen. "The extension of the contract is the result of a trusting cooperation and an expression of our appreciation for Sargis' qualities on and off the pitch," added the director of professional football.

Adamyan too feels that trust and it made him work hard on his return and be patient, especially in the past few months. "I feel completely at home at TSG. I really appreciate the fact that they have put their trust in me here and given me the chance to get into the Bundesliga after I was playing in the Regionalliga a few years ago," said Adamyan. "I'm going to do everything I can to pick up where I left off with last season's performances to help the team achieve our goals in this challenging season."

Sargis Adamyan came to Hoffenheim in the summer of 2019 from second league team SV Jahn Regensburg. Since then, he has made 17 Bundesliga appearances for TSG, scoring five goals. One DFB cup match (one goal) and two Europa League appearances (two goals) round off the professional record of the Armenian with 18 international caps (one goal) in the Kraichgau.
