TSG back in team training

Bundesliga football club TSG Hoffenheim resumed team training this Monday afternoon after the first-team squad had been placed under quarantine for several days. The most recent set of Coronavirus tests returned no positive results. Following approval from the relevant health authorities, preparations for the upcoming derby against VfB Stuttgart (Saturday, 15:30 CET) were able to get underway at the club's training complex in Zuzenhausen.

''This is certainly the best piece of news from the past few days, but we still have to handle the situation in a very conscientious and responsible manner,'' said director of football Alexander Rosen. It is still not clear how the cluster of cases at TSG occurred. ''Over the past months, we at TSG have done everything possible to protect players, staff and employees. That's why we have managed to get through this challenging time so well,'' added Rosen. After six players and two coaches tested positive over several days last week, TSG took the decision on Tuesday to send the Bundesliga team into household quarantine and subject them to further tests. Since this decision, no more team training has taken place; instead, the players have been undergoing strength and endurance sessions together via a video platform and under the supervision of the coaching team.

''We are grateful to have received the green light from the Rhine-Neckar health board to resume training today. The basis for this positive decision was the professional, cross-departmental cooperation shown by many TSG employees and external partners in what was a truly exceptional situation. Everyone involved rose to the challenge in a calm and solution-oriented manner.'' said Rosen, adding: ''Huge praise also has to go to our coaching team, our support staff and our players. The way in which we are dealing with the numerous challenges posed by this still-young season demonstrates to me the enormous character this team has. I am 100 percent convinced that this attitude will set the foundation for success in the weeks to come.''

The players who tested positive last week (Vogt, Rudy, Skov, Bruun Larsen, Dabbur, Belfodil) and those who are still away with their national teams (Adamyan, Akpoguma, Bebou,Gaciniovic, Samassekou) had no part to play in today's training session.
