TSG lose in Frankfurt

TSG Hoffenheim tasted defeat for the first time this season after losing 2-1 (0-1) away to Eintracht Frankfurt. Andrej Kramarić fired TSG into a first-half lead before Frankfurt turned the game on its head after the break.

Personnel and tactics:

TSG head coach Sebastian Hoeness made two changes to the side that beat Bayern Munich 4-1, with Robert Skov and Florian Grillitsch moving into the starting line-up to replace the injured Ermin Bičakčić and Diadie Samassékou. The three-man defensive line ahead of goalkeeper Oliver Baumann was made up of Stefan Posch, Kevin Vogt and Kevin Akpoguma. Pavel Kadeřábek and Skov lined up in the wide positions. Grillitsch played alongside Dennis Geiger in midfield, with Christoph Baumgartner in a slightly more offensive role ahead of them. The striking duo of Andrej Kramarić and Munas Dabbur rounded out the starting XI.

TSG made two chances after going behind 2-1, with Ihlas Bebou and Mijat Gaćinović coming on to replace Geiger and Skov in the 73rd minute. Bebou slotted in on the left wing, while Gaćinović took up Geiger's role in central midfield. TSG then made an attacking change in the 77th minute: striker Ishak Belfodil came on for Baumgartner, with Kramarić dropping back into midfield.

Moment of the match:

The deciding goal in the 71st minute. Munas Dabbur saw his shot blocked by Martin Hinteregger after an excellent solo run by Robert Skov. Then, almost immediately afterwards, Frankfurt took the ball down the other end and scored the winning goal. Some heroic defending from Akpoguma managed to prevent Andre Silva's shot from crossing the line, but the ball fell to Bas Dost, who had an easy finish to set Eintracht on the path to victory.

According to the official DFL match data, the probability of Andrej Kramarić's left-footed curler - surrounded by four Frankfurt defenders - finding the back of the net was just four percent. The opening goal in today's game was the Croatian's sixth of the season.
