Having finished last season with a second-place finish, KAA Gent have not met expectations this term: they are currently languishing down in 13th place with nine points from nine matches. Interim coach Wim De Decker's side also lost the opening game of their UEFA Europa League campaign – 1-0 away to Slovan Liberec.

Head-to-head record:

The match against KAA Gent will be the first time TSG have come up against a Belgian club. The Buffalos, on the other hand, have already faced German opposition several times and even beat VfL Wolfsburg 3-1 away last season.
