Skov impresses against England

Thirteen TSG Hoffenheim players are with their respective national teams over the international break. tsg-hoffenheim.de has all the lowdown on the call-ups, results and kick-off times below.

The week of international football came to a satisfying conclusion for Robert Skov: the 24-year-old Dane played at left-back as his national team drew 0-0 with a highly-favoured England side. His TSG teammate Jacob Bruun Larsen was an unused substitute.

Elsewhere, there was less cause for celebration for Andrej Kramarić and Dennis Geiger: the TSG striker's Croatia lost 4-2 in their 2018 World Cup final rematch in France. Dennis Geiger also endured defeat with the Germany U21s: coach Stefan Kuntz's side were beaten 4-1 by their Belgian counterparts. Both Geiger and Kramarić were named in the starting line-up for their respective matches.

Notable firsts for Baumgartner and Elmkies

Monday was a night to remember for two TSG stars: Christoph Baumgartner and Ilay Elmkies both scored their first-ever goals for their respective national teams at senior level. Baumgartner was on target for Austria in their 3-2 home loss to Romania, in which TSG compatriots Stefan Posch and Florian Grillitsch also appeared. Baumgartner brought the score to 1-1 with a scissor kick and then provided the assist for the second Austrian goal.

Elmkies came on as a substitute for Israel in the 71st minute of their match with Slovakia with his team down 1-0 on the scoreboard. The TSG midfielder then grabbed the equalising goal deep into injury time and was duly mobbed by his teammates. TSG striker Munas Dabbur was in the starting XI and played 57 minutes before being substituted off.

It was a disappointing evening for Ermin Bičakčić, whose Bosnia & Herzegovina side lost 2-1 to Poland. The 30-year-old defender played the full 90 minutes.
