TSG face road trip to Saxony in DFB Cup

The first round of the DFB Cup, held in mid-September, will see TSG Hoffenheim travel to face the winners of the Saxony Cup. The exact opponent will be confirmed on 22 August.

It proved an unusual DFB Cup first-round draw for Hoffenheim: due to this year's exceptional circumstances, TSG still don't know who exactly they will face in their first competitive match of the season. The draw, held as part of ARD's Sportschau programme, pitted the Kraichgau-based side against the eventual winners of the Saxony Cup.

TSG's exact opponents will be confirmed on 22 August - finals day in amateur football. The potential teams are: FC International Leipzig, Chemnitzer FC, FC Eilenburg and 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig. Inter Leipzig will face Chemnitzer FC, who were recently relegated from the third tier, in the semi-final on 8 August, while the other tie will see Eilenburg go head-to-head with Lokomotive Leipzig.

The first round of the DFB Cup will take place between 11 and 14 September. The exact scheduling has yet to be announced.
