Ticket black market: TSG win legal battle against Viagogo

In its ruling issued on 1 July 2020, the Heidelberg Regional Court prohibited the ticket platform Viagogo from reselling tickets for TSG home matches at what it falsely alleged were original prices. In February 2019, the Heidelberg Regional Court had already issued a temporary injunction against the provider Viagogo at the request of TSG Hoffenheim.

In that injunction, Viagogo was banned from advertising what it falsely alleged were original prices for TSG home games. This decision has now been confirmed in the main proceedings which had become necessary and were resisted at every turn by Viagogo. As the provider ignored the court order, the Regional Court of Heidelberg additionally sanctioned the platform with an administrative fine of €12,000 to be paid to the State Treasury.

TSG and the entire department led by Ticketing Manager Thorsten Baller welcome the decision: "We're particularly pleased about this additional legal confirmation in the form of a clear verdict against Viagogo. Together with our law firm SCHÜTZ Rechtsanwälte (www.schuetz.law), we've been very committed for many years to combating this platform, which has been causing us and our fans a great deal of trouble for a long time. We can now appeal to our fans, for whom it'll hopefully soon be possible to return to the stadium, to use only our official TSG Ticket Market to resell tickets. Fair ticket prices are guaranteed there. There's also a regular chance to get tickets for sold-out matches."
