Rosen: "The lads are fully focused"

Prior to the final home game of the season, which comes against Union Berlin on Saturday (15:30 CET/Live Ticker at achtzehn99.de), TSG Hoffenheim director of football Alexander Rosen spoke about possible qualification for the Europa League, the opposition and the personnel situation.

Alexander Rosen on…

…possible qualification for the Europa League: "The advantages of the Europa League are common knowledge. If you're in seventh place two matches before the end of the season, you don't want to give it up and you ideally want to improve upon it. I can sense a good energy in the squad, the lads are focused. That makes me confident. We'll do everything we can to beat Union. We'll definitely have something to play for right until the end of the season."

…the opposition: "If you've followed this team throughout the season, you can have nothing but great things to say about them. They're defensively very solid and very strong when it comes to duels and free-kicks. They've prematurely confirmed their survival. We're expecting to face an aggressive team. We'll be up against a highly motivated opponent and we want to give it everything."

…the personnel situation: "There'll certainly be changes to the starting XI once again. The lads look really focused. We need to see how Andrej Kramarić coped with the second half. Munas Dabbur cannot yet play 90 minutes either. Håvard Nordtveit sustained a calf injury last week. In addition, Konstantinos Stafylydis is suffering from adductor problems. We're not expecting that they'll be in the squad. Dennis Geiger is back in training and will be included in the squad."

…the "Corona-Warn-App" featuring as a shirt sponsor: "It's a challenging time. We at TSG Hoffenheim are proud that we can publicise the app and be part of this story."

…impending suspensions for five players: "We're aware of this danger. We're not currently planning a week ahead. All five players who have the threat of suspension hanging over them also played against Augsburg. We're only thinking about Union Berlin and we'll field our best XI based on our tactical strategy."

The opposition's form:

Union Berlin secured their top-flight status with two matches still to play thanks to a 1-0 win against SC Paderborn on Tuesday. The capital club currently sit in 12th place with 38 points.

Head-to-head record:

The reverse fixture in December last year was the first competitive meeting between the two clubs. Christoph Baumgartner scored his first Bundesliga goals that day to seal a 2-0 win.
