Schreuder: "We're really looking forward to it"

The wait is almost over, with the Bundesliga set to resume on Saturday. At the virtual press conference ahead of the meeting with Hertha BSC (Saturday at 15:30 CET/Live Ticker at achtzehn99.de), TSG Hoffenheim head coach Alfred Schreuder spoke about the condition of the team, the unusual atmosphere at the PreZero Arena and the personnel situation.

Alfred Schreuder on:

…the condition of the team: "We've trained well and were even able to resume team training a week ago. I also believe that we're physically and mentally fit. Towards the start of the corona crisis it was slightly more difficult, but by now we've gotten used to it. We're ready and in a good condition."

…Hoffenheim's first Bundesliga match behind closed doors: "It's a shame, because it of course means that there's not such an emotional atmosphere in the stadium. We'll miss the fans but there's no way around it. We've trained a few times at the ground to get used to the situation. Communication among ourselves is slightly easier."

…the excitement ahead of the restart: "We're really looking forward to Saturday. Every player has made it clear to us that he wants to play. We're ready to get started again."

…the personnel situation: "Andrej Kramarić, Ishak Belfodil and Sargis Adamyan will miss out. As for the rest, we have a good feeling that they'll be able to play on Saturday. We still have enough players in the squad who are dangerous in front of goal and who can get on the scoresheet."

…the opposition: "It's obviously a different situation over at Hertha due to the change of coach. We've trained our own strengths and we have a clear plan for Saturday."

Head-to-head record:

The two teams are set for their 20th Bundesliga meeting on Saturday. TSG currently have the upper hand against the capital club, with nine victories, five draws and five defeats from their previous encounters. Hoffenheim have not lost a game against Hertha BSC since going down 1-0 on 22 November 2015. TSG have won five matches since then, while there have also been three draws.

The opposition's form:

Hertha switched coaches during the enforced break due to the coronavirus, with Bruno Labbadia taking Alexander Nouri's place in the hotseat. After Nouri, Jürgen Klinsmann and Ante Covic, Labbadia is the fourth man to coach the capital club this term. They currently sit in 13th place with 28 points, having won only one of their last six matches.
